Our design process always begins with our small fabric printing business. We work closely with skilled artisans to make all our printed textiles using variation of printing and dyeing techniques.
Our printing factory is such a beautiful inspirational place to work from. set amongst local rice fields under simple thatch and tin buildings with chickens moving around the yard.
This is the setting in which we come together over many strong black Indonesian coffees and plan our colour swatches and prints.

Combining block printing, various tie dye techniques and hand painted fabrics. Making no two meters of fabric the same. The imperfections and differences in each garment are what makes our garments special.
We have established our customers favourite prints which remain consistent and carried through all seasons and collections creating a unique signature style exclusive to Nortje.
Our designs for a season starting point comes from the outcome of the fabric designs we create through this process. Colour and print is everything.
